The “It’s a wrap collection” is starting with this BurdaStyle skirt pattern from the July 2021 Issue. It reminded me of the Ultuzarra skirt I saw in the Spring 2022 collection, which I have pinned on Pinterest. Not quite the same but similar. I originally wanted to draft a similar skirt but my time won’t be abundant till May to tackle pattern making again. Regardless, this skirt fit the bill.
Construction Details:
The construction was simple but not as quick. Pleats on the top band give the skirt a nice drape effect as if you tied two ends together of a towel. Something I have done when at the beach or pool. However, on the pattern, it looks so much better. The ties were separate with one sewn into the pleated area and the other into the seam where the front piece meets when wrapped. This is different than some wrap skirts that I have made that have had the tie on both ends with the tie on the inside front section coming out of a buttonhole and wrapping around the back to meet the other side. The inside front is held to the outside front piece by snaps.
Modifications:
This particular view is a plus-size, while my hips are getting there I still had to grade the pattern to a smaller size. This is the only modification that I made. Surprisingly the length came out perfect, but I also did not add a hem allowance as I am only 5′ 4 1/2″

Conclusion:
I must admit I usually don’t make many patterns more than once. But the more I add to my wardrobe, the more I am enjoying the patterns that I am making. Just creating a slight modification or color can create something new. So in other words this is another one I am planning to make in a different color.
